Before You Quit

Hi everyone,

Hope you all been well. We all live busy fast paced lives and plenty to do, however it is difficult to stay motivated when you’re feeling down – especially at work. It’s hard enough to get out of bed some mornings, not to mention wrap my brain around deadlines, blog post or God forbid a presentation. I’ll just completely shut down and desperately look for way to distract myself from my feelings. This is something that I struggle with a lot, but I’d thought I would share a few strategies that have helped.
  • Step back, self-reflect and pray – I found this is a good way of getting the root of my feelings.
  •  Listen to music - Music can heal, put you in a better mood, and make you feel less alone, or take you on a mental journey. I really on this heavily.
  •  Reach out to someone. I used to bottle up my feelings out of fear that I would be judged if I talked about them. But reaching out to a loving, understanding person really helps.
  • Laugh – Share something with someone who has a good sense of humour or listen to comedy shows through your headphones (Kevin Hart is pretty good). Laughing releases tension and has a natural ability to heal. .
  •  Cry. I don’t like crying in front of people, but whenever I have an opportunity to slink away and cry by myself, I always feel better afterwards. Crying releases pain.
  •  Take a mental health day. Sometimes we just need to take a day to clear our heads and nurture our souls. My mental health has a history of being a bit erratic, so nurturing it is a priority in my life. If that means talking a ‘sick day’ then *cough, cough* - you know what to do ;-)

It can be hard to find privacy in the work place people are constantly in your face and wanting to know where you are so here is my tip for getting away for a few minutes.

Tea breaks/ toilets/ cigarette breaks – you do not have to take up the habit of smoking but going outside for 5 minutes every now and then will do you good. Shut your eyes and do breathing exercises. I also find focusing on something in the distance, taking in the sunlight or simply enjoy natural surroundings (I.e Rivers, flowers).

I hope you guys find these tips and suggestions helpful; because these things are really saved me from losing my mind when I've been having a bad or sad day.

Carry On

Hey everyone,
I’m not even sure how to begin this post; if any of you follow me on Twitter you’ll already be aware that these past few weeks have been a bit turbulent for me.  I did do a lot of writing about it, which ranged from cursing and complaining, to emotional sobbing and crying, it’s all in my drafts. But the last thing I want to do is drag you down as well, because it’s what would be the point. It’s Easter you should be having fun, going to church (if that is what you do) or pigging out on Easter eggs. So no matter what I’m feeling, I want to hear about good Easters and what everyone is getting up to. One day I may share that part of my world, but at the moment I’m just not ready for that. But what I will promise you is I that will be strong and carry on. I will try not to let pressures get me down or think less of myself. I’m just so confused right now; I don’t want to hurt anyone. But God is with me and I have count my blessing not my problems, right? :'(
I’m sorry this is such a depressing post I really don’t mean it to be, I’ll be back to my normal self soon, this is just a season and it will past.
Take care everyone x

80th

Hey guys,

How have you all been? I’m sorry I haven’t posted in a while I have been so busy, but where I could take pictures and make mental notes of what was happening to post in here later. For the life of me I can’t remember the days these things happened so bear with me.

I can’t remember if I mentioned it before but over the last few months myself and the family have been organizing a surprise party for my grandma’s 80th birthday and there was so much to do! And because of amount of people expected most of my ‘running up and down’ was for food. Seriously the amount of chicken we had to buy, clean and season it completely put off chicken *well for now anyway*. Don’t get me started on the amount of fish…anyway enough talk of food I’m making myself hungry.

My aunty had a really old picture of grandma when she was younger however the picture was so old it was literally falling apart, so I took it and had it restored and blown up so we could make it a feature picture over her cake table. I am so happy with how it came out (they edited the picture though, because original had her friend). This cake was made by a family friend isn’t it gorgeous – Thanks Leeann

This was only one cake, Grandma had three! yes!  (^_-) d

The party itself was massive success grandma was so happy and she really had a great time, even at 3am she was still there dancing away. She her so happy made all the effort totally worth it. I’m going to miss her so much when she goes back to Jamaica.
Me and Grandma <3
I took last week off to sort the party things out, but also as it’s the school holidays I spent time with my nephews. I was given a fish tank by one of my aunts so they helped me clean and sort it out. We also did some baking  - awww they’re so cute, they really like it and really got involved. And where I a spare moment with stopped for ice-cream.

Hmm… what else…oh yeah I did some apple picking with my sister and boyfriend in my aunts garden, I know it sounds lame but I was actually a lot of fun, we fun finding weird looking apples that look like buttholes ^_^

Oh yeah the London Riots was an unexpected source of entertainment, some people are brave man. Looting shops with their bear faces haha all grinning in the camera and all sorts  - what fools! I’m not condoning the violence/looting but I do believe it (or something to that scale) needed to happen. It was the golden opportunity to address the problems/issues Londoners have suffered with for so long. I don’t agree with how the government and the police have handle things, if anything I think their current methods are making the divide in London worst, which will then lead to more crime. So yeah…2012 and the Olympics will be interesting.

…that’s all I can  really remember… how is your summer going so far?

What Was That About?

Hey Guys,

How you all been? The past few days have been so busy for me *sigh*, what happened to the days staying in bed and staying in your PJs all day. I had some plans with family and friends but the weather has been a such a wash out lately, no ones in the mood.

So I focused on errands that I’ve been putting off and general work that I should do. I tried to squeeze as much as I could in a day, which seemed to be working. Sometimes the unexpected happens and things get delayed (not forgotten but delayed), no big deal right? – WRONG! One of my friends had such a go at me, they said the meanness things, didn’t listen to anything I had to say. They made me cry (T_T). I’m not really a cry-cry person (unless a ball has smacks me in the face), but this particular 'friend' is quickly becoming a master of upsetting me. So on Sunday I went over to their place make it better, but somehow it got worst. Then I did something that I never done before, I just got so upset I left in this diva-style (US Soap opera) dramatics. I stormed out the flat with my cheesy ‘one liner’, the lift doors closing behind me as he followed. I thought I could make it to the car before they’d get downstairs. But there they were already at my car! *damn it, some proper Edward Cullan business going on*. Still no sign of an apology from them, but more of the abuse I was getting before. So I give a cold look, got in my car and disappeared into the distance, leaving them standing there. At the time it felt like the right thing to do, because I just couldn’t stay in that situation any longer *plus I have to admit it did feel pretty cool :)*. Now I just can’t stop thinking about it, I’m so distracted and sad *a little angry too*. I just can’t make sense of it all, how something so small can be taken so greatly out of proportion. But I’m going pause on the apologizing for a while, I mean what is the point if it completely one sided?

I’m sorry guys this post is really depressing, I’m sorry if I’ve brought anyone down. It’s just were my head is a t the moment – quite annoying cause its so not me. I promise this won’t last…well fingers crossed anyway.

Take care
